Short-Term CausesStalin feared that the independent farms threatened his ideals. He did not like the idea of peasants getting wealthy from independently owned farms. The Soviets tried to turn the less wealthy peasants against the wealthy farmers by falsely representing Kulaks as a threat to society. |
